Scanning Electron Microscope

4 June 2026

During Week 4, our Science students had the exciting opportunity to explore the microscopic world through the use of an electron microscope. Across Science classes, students examined samples in incredible detail that cannot normally be seen with the naked eye, including insects, plant materials, hair, grains of salt, sugar crystals and other everyday objects.

Students were fascinated by the intricate patterns, textures and structures revealed under the microscope, helping bring classroom learning to life in a highly engaging and hands on way. During selected break times, students also had the chance to visit and explore a range of samples of their own interest, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm for Science across year levels.

It was a fantastic experience that encouraged students to look more closely at the world around them and discover just how amazing the hidden details of everyday objects can be.
